ICCR chief honoured by Edinburgh University
November 23rd, 2011 - 4:54 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Nov 23 (IANS) The University of Edinburgh has awarded an honorary doctorate degree to Suresh Goel, director-general of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), for his contribution to the country’s external cultural relations.
The award was presented to him at a ceremony in Edinburgh Wednesday morning, a statement by the ICCR said.
Accepting the award, Goel said, “The conferring of the degree is a recognition of the great work being done by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations in the area of cultural diplomacy”.
“The ICCR is using dialogue between societies toward achieving the ancient wisdom of the whole world being a family in which every thought, every person and every group has a place and space for their creative endeavour,” Goel added.
