Hyderabad, June 17 (IANS) The Hyderabad police Wednesday rescued a one-and-half-year old girl who was allegedly kidnapped by her family’s maid servant.
Police arrested Parveen, 25, who had disappeared with the child Tuesday. She was found travelling in a local train along with the girl.

Shoukat Hussain Madani, deputy director, information technology and communications department, had lodged a complaint with the police that his daughter Syeda Rabadh Madani was missing. He suspected that she was kidnapped by the maid servant.

The child was missing from their house in Darulshifa neighbourhood in the old city, and a case was registered in Dabeerpura police station late Tuesday night.

Police began questioning Parveen, who claimed that she was taking the child to her house as the child’s mother was away. She also claimed that she had lost her way.

Madani told police that the maid, who hails from Karimnagar district, had asked for an advance of Rs.2,000 but he had refused to give her the money.

The incident took place a few days after the kidnapping and gruesome murder of a 10-year-old boy in the old city. That crime was committed by the business rivals of the boy’s father.
