Hundreds in Lebanon protest against Israeli raid on Gaza
December 28th, 2008 - 2:48 am ICT by IANSBeirut, Dec 28 (Xinhua) Hundreds of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon Saturday marched to the Egyptian embassy here to protest against the Israeli raids on Gaza.Riot police have thrown a security ring around the embassy in western Beirut to prevent the protesters from entering into the premises, Hezbollah Al-Nour radio reported.
Lebanese soldiers were also deployed to control the situation, it said.
The protesters were from the Palestinian refugee camp Bourj el-Barajneh in the southern part of the city.
On Saturday morning, Israel launched massive air strikes against Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, hitting more than 30 targets, mostly security compounds of the Islamic Hamas movement.
According to Palestinian officials, at least 200 people were killed and 750 others wounded in the attacks.
