February 10th, 2012 - 7:37 pm ICT by IANSMexico City, Feb 10 (IANS/EFE) A 150-kg pet crocodile was seized from a house in Mexico, officials said.
The two-metre-long crocodile, named “Chuy”, was seized from Tlaquepaque city in western Jalisco state.
The reptile lived in a small pen set up by his owner, Salvador Venegas, said a top official from the city fire and emergency management department.
Venegas said he got the crocodile as a gift 12 years ago and fed him four to five chickens a day.
The reptile was seized after an anonymous tip. There have been no reports that the crocodile attacked anyone, officials said.
Eight firefighters needed nearly two hours to capture the crocodile, which was taken to the zoo in Guadalajara.
