Hot morning in Delhi, rains likely

New Delhi, Sep 11 (IANS) Sunday began on a hot note for Delhiites but the Met office forecast rains later in the day.

The maximum temperature was recorded two notches above average at 26.6 degrees Celsius, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

“The city received 0.6 mm of rainfall from 5.30 p.m. Saturday to 8.30 a.m. Sunday,” said an IMD official.

“The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 34 degrees Celsius,” he added.

The humidity was recorded at 86 percent.

The city has so far received 575.1 mm of rainfall this monsoon, 2 percent below average.

Saturday’s maximum temperature was recorded at 34.1 degrees Celsius while the minimum settled at 25.1 degrees Celsius.
