Hot day in Delhi, no rains in store (Lead)

New Delhi, July 20 (IANS) Delhiites suffered a hot and muggy day Wednesday as the skies remained partly cloudy and maximum temperature was recorded two notches above average at 37.3 degrees Celsius.

“The minimum temperature was also two notches above average at 28.9 degrees Celsius,” an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The humidity levels wavered between a high of 82 and a low of 49 percent, he added.

According to the Met office, skies will remain partly cloudy Thursday but there is no possibility of rains.

“The maximum and minimum temperature will hover around 36 and 28 degrees Celsius respectively,” the official added.

Tuesday’s maximum temperature was 36.3 degrees Celsius, a notch above average, while the minimum was 27.5 degrees — average for this time of the year.
