Hot day in Delhi, dry Sunday expected (Lead)

New Delhi, June 11 (IANS) A cool Saturday morning gave way to a hot day as the maximum temperature was recorded a notch above the average at 40.1 degrees Celsius. The Met office has forecast a dry weekend and a rise in the mercury, an official said.

“The minimum temperature was recorded five notches below what is an average for this time fo the season at 23.4 degrees Celsius,” said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The humidity levels wavered between a high of 74 and a low of 41 percent, he said.

According to the IMD, skies will remain partly cloudy Sunday but no showers are expected.

“The maximum and minimum temperatures shall hover around 41 and 28 degrees Celsius, respectively,” said the official.
