Hoax bomb call at Mumbai court
April 17th, 2010 - 6:44 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, April 17 (IANS) A phone call claiming that a bomb had been planted in a court building in suburban Bandra led to a two-hour long search Saturday during which nothing suspicious was found, a police official said.
The hoax call was received by an officer at the Nirmal Nagar police station. The anonymous caller claimed that a bomb had been planted in the eight-storey court building of Bandra east.
“At the end of the extensive search operation by the bomb detection and disposal squad, nothing suspicious was found,” said Prashant Bagade, senior police inspector of Nirmal Nagar police station.
Members of the anti-terrorist squad also reached the spot.
“Today being a Saturday, there were hardly 200 people in the building who were evacuated in no time,” Bagade said.
Police are trying to identity the caller and find out the location from where the call was made, said the official.
