Shimla, June 24 (IANS) Three-time Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator from Himachal Pradesh’s Nalagarh constituency H.N. Saini died early Friday after prolonged illness, family members said.
He was 59.
The cremation would take place in his native village Rajpura, near Nalagarh in Solan district Saturday.
“He was quite unwell for the past few months and was hospitalised at a private hospital in Panchkula (in Haryana),” his family said.
Saini, a former state minister in the previous BJP government from 1998 to 2003, was suffering from liver cancer.
He made a public appearance in his native village after a long gap June 17 to bid adieu to politics.
“I have finally decided to quit politics following my ill-health and request you to extend your support to my wife,” he said in his emotional speech.
Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal expressed grief over his death.
