Himachal hills get warmer again

Shimla, June 10 (IANS) After days of pleasant weather, the hills of Himachal Pradesh again saw the mercury rising Sunday, recording temperatures two to three degrees above average. In some areas, it reached 40 degrees Celsius.

Shimla, located at a height of 7,000 feet above sea level, was warm at 27 degrees Celsius, three notches above average. It recorded a high of 26.2 degrees Celsius Saturday.

“The maximum temperatures were up by one to two degrees in the state due to lack of rain,” a official at the meteorological office here told IANS.

He said Una town was the hottest at 40 degrees Celsius.

Dharamsala in Kangra district recorded a high of 34.6 degrees Celsius, 3.5 notches above average, while it was 21.4 degrees in Kalpa in Kinnaur district and 25.4 degrees in Manali in Kullu district.

The western disturbances were active in the state in the past few days, bringing moderate rains across the state.

The met department said now dry weather would prevail across the state.
