Hillary Clinton to visit Germany, S. Korea, Japan
April 12th, 2011 - 6:42 am ICT by IANSWashington, April 12 (IANS) US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is scheduled to travel to Germany, South Korea and Japan later this week, Xinhua Tuesday quoted the US State Department as saying.
During her three-day visit to Berlin, Germany from Wednesday to Friday, Clinton will “join foreign ministers from NATO and partner countries for an informal NATO foreign ministerial meeting,” the statement said, adding these chief diplomats will discuss issues regarding Libya and Afghanistan.
From Saturday to Sunday, Clinton will travel to Seoul, the capital of South Korea, and meet with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, to “strengthen the alliance and to discuss cooperation on regional issues,” the statement said Monday.
On Sunday, Clinton will visit Japan to show “the US’ support for the people of Japan” and to highlight the “long-standing commitment to the alliance”.
She is likely to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan and Foreign Minister Takeaki Matsumoto, Xinhua stated.
