Highway robbers arrested
July 24th, 2010 - 11:27 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 24 (IANS) Two people who used to rob people after offering them lift at night were arrested, police said Saturday.
Mohammad Nadeem, 22, the gang leader and a call centre cab driver in Noida was arrested along with his associate Jeetu Kumar, 21, from Sarai Kale Khan Bus Terminal in south Delhi, a police officer said.
An illegally-made 12 bore pistol, three live rounds and nine robbed mobile phones were recovered from them, the official said.
According to police, the gang lured their victims by offering them lift in their cabs usually at bus stops at night. They dumped their victims on the highway after robbing them at gun point.
In one incident, they had asked a person to withdraw a sum of Rs.22,000 from an ATM at gunpoint, the officer said.
