High court rejects appeal in Nitish Katara murderJuly 11th, 2008 - 10:39 pm ICT by IANS
Allahabad, July 11 (IANS) A division bench of the Allahabad High Court Friday dismissed an appeal filed by Vikas Yadav challenging his conviction in the Nitish Katara murder case. Vikas Yadav, son of MP D.P. Yadav, and his cousin Vishal Yadav were convicted by the Patiala House court in New Delhi for the murder of Katara and sentenced to life imprisonment. The court dismissed the appeal, stating the case did not fall in its jurisdiction.
Counsel for complainant Gopal Chaturvedi argued that the appeal could not be heard at the Allahabad High Court since the verdict was delivered in Delhi High Court.
But counsel for Vikas Yadav argued that the Allahabad court had jurisdiction.
