New Delhi, March 4 (IANS) The Delhi High Court Wednesday pulled up the capital’s civic agency for allowing parks to be used for wedding ceremonies.
A division bench headed by Chief Justice Ajit Prakash Shah and Justice Sanjeev Khanna reprimanded the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) for not abiding by the court’s earlier order directing it that parks and roads will not be used for marriage ceremonies.

The court asked the MCD to file a detailed report within four weeks over how many such parks were there where marriages parties were being allowed and how many community centre’s were being proposed for the same.

The court was hearing a public interest petition filed by Patanjali Shiksha Sansthan in 2005 alleging that marriages in parks create great environment hazard and also lead to heavy traffic jams on roads.
