High alert in Mumbai, Maharashtra after Pune attack
February 14th, 2010 - 1:52 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Pune, Feb 14 (IANS) Security forces are on high alert across Maharashtra, including Mumbai, after the Pune bombing that killed nine people, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan said Sunday.
“Security has been tightened at all important installations, including the airport, railway stations and other places in Mumbai,” Chavan told reporters here.
The leave of all policemen across the state have been cancelled following the Pune attack - the worst in India after the November 2008 Mumbai carnage.
In Mumbai, security has been tightened at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai Port, Baba Atomic Research Centre, Bombay Stock Exchange, luxury hotels, government buildings, the VVIP areas of south Mumbai and the beaches.
Elsewhere in Maharashtra, security was beefed up at the Sai Baba temple in Shirdi, the Pandharpur temple and other major places of historic, religious and tourist significance.
