Heavy showers clean up Taj Mahal
June 9th, 2011 - 5:38 pm ICT by IANSAgra, June 9 (IANS) A thunderstorm hit Agra Thursday and was followed by heavy rains that flooded most low-lying areas but left the Taj Mahal clean and sparkling.
Caught unawares, pedestrians had to wait for more than an hour for the rain to stop.
Traffic on the busy Mahatma Gandhi Road was hit hard.
At the Taj Mahal, tourists scurried for cover as showers took them by surprise.
Said Rani, a woman from Kokatta: “It was too hot only an hour ago, and now everything has changed. All our family members are wet.”
“The Taj Mahal looks dazzling after the rain wash. All the dust deposited on the surface has been washed away,” said Sandeep Arora, a hotelier at Taj Ganj area.
