The deaths were reported from Sitapur, Bahraich, Unnao, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar and Barabanki districts of the state, and details of the damage caused by Wednesday’s rainfall are still being collected, officials added.
The highest toll was reported from Sitapur, where seven people were killed.

“We have already started the relief work for the bereaved family members and those displaced following the rains,” he added.
In Bahraich, four members of a nomadic community died as they got buried under their mud-house in the Fakharpur following heavy rains, officials said.
