Heavy cricket schedule may delay Clarke’s weddingFebruary 19th, 2009 - 4:16 pm ICT by IANS
Sydney, Feb 19 (IANS) Australian vice-captain Michael Clarke’s wedding with his model girlfriend Lara Bingle might be delayed because of heavy cricket schedule this year.
The couple, according to Daily Telegraph, were supposed to marry Oct 3. Their agent denied the couple set a day to tie the knot but admitted that because of Clarke’s cricket commitments, it is not going to happen this year.
“The couple have set no date,” their agent Chris White said.
“And the reason is, quite simply, Clarkie has no time. Not this year.”
Cricket sources say there is only one brief 10-day window that might accommodate a wedding and honeymoon in 2009 - it is May 12-23. The rest of the year Clarke is travelling or playing cricket.
“She wants a proper wedding in Sydney, with her family, in the southern suburbs. They didn’t skimp on the engagement party (held at Luna Park). They are not going to skimp on the wedding,” another source said.
Unless they organise a quickie wedding, en route to either the United Arab Emirates, England, Sri Lanka or India, the wedding is unlikely to happen until after March 2010 - making theirs an unfashionably long two-year engagement.
