February 26th, 2009 - 2:36 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Feb 26 (IANS) The headmaster of a government run school in Uttar Pradesh has been arrested after a 12-year-old student alleged that he had molested her in an empty classroom.
Ram Yadav, headmaster of the Muzaffarpur Primary School in Azamgarh, about 300 km from here, has been accused of molesting the Class 5 student Tuesday, police said Thursday.
According to the complaint lodged by her parent Wednesday, he asked the girl to clean a vacant classroom and accosted her. The girl, however, managed to come out of the classroom after raising an alarm, said Inspector Kamlesh Kumar from the Kandharpur police station where the complaint was filed.
“Strict action would be taken against the teacher if he is found guilty in the inquiry being conducted by police and education authorities,” added an official in charge of primary education in the district.
