New Delhi, Dec 19 (IANS) Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor Saturday said that the missing visa application papers of terror suspect David Coleman Headley, one of two 26/11 Mumbai conspirators in US custody, has been found.
“Yes, it has been found. It is being looked at. Far more important is to find out what he did in India. The investigations are on,” Tharoor said on the sidelines of a CII-Aspen conference on Ideas India 2009 here.
On Thursday, Tharoor had claimed that while the Indian consulate in Chicago had found the visa application papers of the other suspected conspirator, Pakistan-born Tahawwur Rana, Headley’s papers were still being searched.
The external affairs ministry spokesperson Vishnu Prakash had then asserted that it was not “accurate to conclude that these visa applications are missing”. “All relevant information in this regard is being shared with the investigating agencies.”
The spokesperson added that the visas were issued to the two men July 18, 2007, and March 3, 2006, respectively. A one year business visa was also issued to Rana Oct 31, 2008.
