Hazare’s detention dangerous for democracy: Munda
August 16th, 2011 - 5:01 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, Aug 16 (IANS) Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda has termed the detention of Anna Hazare as dangerous for democracy and a threat to the democratic system of the country.
“Anna’s arrest is dangerous for democracy. Everyone has a right to protest and the government of India’s move is undemocratic. It poses a danger for democracy,” Munda told reporters after Hazare, 74, was detained in the national capital.
People took to the streets in many districts, including Jamshedpur and Hazaribagh, in protest. An effigy of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government was burnt here. Hundreds of people belonging to the ‘Anna’s friends club’ also launched a signature campaign to press for freedom for Hazare.
Among those who joined in were Narendra Dhoni, the elder brother of cricket Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
