Hashish costing Rs.5 mn seized from Delhi man

Thane (Maharashtra), Feb 9 (IANS) A resident of New Delhi was arrested here with 18 kg hashish costing over Rs.5 million, an official said Wednesday.Amit Brijmohan was caught with the consignment when he arrived in a private tourist bus from Udaipur in Rajasthan Feb 5, the Narcotics Control Bureau’s zonal director Yashodhan Wanage said.

When he alighted from the bus at Kashimira in Thane district, NCP officials found eight taped packets containing dark brown balls. Tests confirmed that these were hashish weighing 18 kg.

His interrogation revealed that another 20 kg of hashish was hidden in his house in Srinivaspuri in the Indian capital, the officer said.

The consignment was recovered from his wife, Wanage said.

Interrogation of the accused revealed that the drugs had originated from Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Brihmohan was produced before a Mumbai court which has remanded him to police custody till Feb 14, Wanage added.
