Haryana’s senior citizens to help in social schemes
July 8th, 2011 - 7:31 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, July 8 (IANS) Services of senior citizens would be utilised by the Haryana government for implementing various social schemes, an official spokesman said here Friday.
Under the social networking scheme introduced by the social justice and empowerment department, the senior citizens will serve as resource persons in fields like education, technical education, health, rural development, urban development, and construction of roads and buildings, the spokesman said.
A sum of Rs.65.60 lakh would be spent in the state under the scheme, he said, adding a senior citizens committee had already started working in Hisar and Sirsa districts under the social networking scheme.
“Senior citizens’ committees would be constituted as per the interest and experience of senior citizens, who have worked in the field of education, technical education, rural and urban development and health for a long time,” he added.
