The father of the girl had lodged a complaint against his wife that she had hammered the girl to death in a fit of rage Monday night in Bibipur village.
Manisha was studying in BA first year and her mother suspected that she had an affair with some boy. In a fit of anger, she hit Manisha with a wooden hammer, leading to a serious head injury, police said.

Bibipur village is some 215 km from Chandigarh.
