Haryana to get evening courts
August 15th, 2010 - 1:53 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Aug 15 (IANS) In a move to reduce the pendency of cases, Haryana will set up evening courts at Faridabad, Gurgaon, Hisar and Karnal towns this year, an official said Sunday.
Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who himself is a lawyer, has also given the nod for the setting up of ‘gram nyayalayas’ (village courts) in Rania and Shahbad.
The country’s first mobile court has been functioning in Haryana’s Mewat district, near Gurgaon, since 2007.
“Family courts have also been set up at Gurgaon, Faridabad, Hisar and Bhiwani to settle family and marriage disputes,” the official added.
He said 16 fast-tack courts have been sanctioned and would start functioning soon. New judicial complexes have been set up in 18 out of Haryana’s 21 districts.
