Haryana to create 17,000-acre land bank for industry
December 28th, 2008 - 3:40 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Dec 28 (IANS) Haryana’s industry promoter, the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corp (HSIIDC), is creating a land bank of 17,000 acres for industrial units, the corporation announced here Sunday.The new land bank will be earmarked for industrial belts and infrastructure projects being planned in the state, a HSIIDC spokesman said. According to him, HSIIDC spent Rs.10.45 billion on the development of industrial infrastructure in 2008, Rs.1.04 billion more than the previous year.
The investment outlay for these projects, which include expressways, model industrial townships, clusters and dedicated theme parks, has been estimated at a nearly Rs.120 billion (Rs.12,000 crore).
The planned projects include the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway that will help trucks carrying cargo to and from north India bypassing Delhi, industrial model townships at Rohtak, Faridabad, Kharkhoda (Sonepat) and Jagadhari, apart from expansion of such townships at Manesar, Bawal, Barhi, Rai, Karnal and Saha.
Additionally, dedicated theme parks, like the food parks at Rai (Sonepat) and Saha (Ambala), apparel park at Barhi (Sonepat), footwear park at Bahadurgarh (Rohtak), textile cluster at Panipat, auto parts cluster at Gurgaon, light engineering goods park at Faridabad, agricultural implements park at Karnal, and technology parks at Panchkula, Rai and Manesar are already being set up.
Haryana already is home to the biggest automobile industry in the country with big players like Maruti-Suzuki, Hero Honda and several automotive parts manufacturers having set up facilities in the Gurgaon-Manesar industrial belt near New Delhi.
HSIIDC recently signed an agreement with Japanese giant Mitsui and India’s Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services to set up an integrated Japanese industrial, transportation and logistic park in Haryana.
The project is likely to attract Japanese investment to the tune of Rs.50 billion (Rs.5,000 crore) and create employment for about 10,000 persons directly and indirectly in the core and allied activities.
