Haryana school children to get CWG holidays Oct 8-13
August 30th, 2010 - 10:27 am ICT by IANSChandigarh, Aug 30 (IANS) Haryana has announced special holidays for all school children in the state Oct 8 to 13 to enable them to watch the Commonwealth Games (CWG) to be organised in New Delhi, an official spokesman said Monday.
The 2010 CWG, the biggest sporting event to be held in India, are being held in New Delhi Oct 3-14 this year.
Haryana had earlier announced that Oct 14 will be observed as a public holiday in the Gurgaon district in view of the closing ceremony of the CWG.
State Chief Secretary Urvashi Gulati said the Haryana government has decided to observe Oct 14 as a public holiday in all its public offices, including educational institutional, boards and corporations, situated within the limits of Gurgaon.
