Haryana officials to face action for delaying help

Chandigarh, June 22 (IANS) Revenue and health officials in Haryana’s Kaithal district will face administrative action after an inquiry found them responsible for delay in giving financial and medical help to a labourer who was injured seriously, a senior official said here Wednesday.

Suresh, a resident of village Pedal in Kaithal district was seriously injured while unloading stones from a truck. He was rushed to a hospital in Kaithal and later referred to the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh as his condition deteriorated.

The victim died later.

Kaithal Deputy Commissioner Amneet P. Kumar has, on the basis of the enquiry report of the (then) Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Guhla, Rajiv Ratan, directed that administrative action be taken against all those officers found responsible for delay in providing financial and medical assistance to Suresh, a spokesman said here Wednesday.

The inquiry by the SDM found that the Tehsildars (revenue officials) of Guhla, Amrinder Singh and Dharamvir Singh, chief medical officer of Guhla and another official of the revenue department were found responsible for not providing timely financial and medical assistance to the victim.

“His (Suresh’s) family had requested for financial assistance at that time which had been considerably delayed by the officers of the health department, consequently leading to his demise. Following a request from his family, an inquiry was marked,” the spokesman said.
