Haryana IAS officer publishes poem collection
April 16th, 2011 - 12:16 am ICT by IANSChandigarh, April 15 (IANS) Sumita Misra, a Haryana cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, has come out with her first collection of poems titled “Life of a Light”, which is based on womanhood and the aspirations of women and youth.
The book was released by Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia here Friday.
“All poems are mirror image of human emotions that I felt during my journey of life. This book means so much to me because it allows me to express myself as a woman and not as a government officer,” said Misra, a 1990-batch IAS officer, who is at present Haryana’s chief electoral officer-cum-commissioner and secretary.
There are 45 poems in the collection, published by Unistrar Books.
While releasing the book, Pahadia said: “India has a rich tradition of women poets. Misra is the emergence of a new star in their galaxy.”
