Haryana cop, four youths arrested in gang rape case

Jhajjar (Haryana), June 17 (IANS) Haryana Police Friday arrested a constable and suspended another for their alleged involvement in gangrape of a teenaged girl here June 15, said the police.

Police have also arrested four youths in the case.

According to the police, constable Rakesh was arrested and head constable Mahender Singh, who is on the run, has been suspended.

Jhajjar district police chief Patram Singh said four other youths - Vipul, Ravi, Ajay and Sandeep - have been arrested for their involvement in the rape.

Police said that Trimal Singh, father of the 13-year-old girl, had June 15 complained that his daughter was abducted in a car and was raped by the accused.

However, during the police investigation, it was found that the girl was not abducted and she had herself gone with her friend Vipul and that she was later raped by Vipul and his friends.
