London, Jan 28 (IANS) UK-based luxury fashion retailer Harvey Nichols plans to expand its business and open new stores in Nottingham and Kuwait.”There is almost no one with wealth who has not been affected by the economic situation. But I believe the demand for luxury fashion is sustainable for the longer term,” vogue.co.uk reports Harvey Nichol’s chief executive officer Joseph Wan as saying.

“I am confident that the market for designer labels and trendy accessories would recover despite our wealthy customers feeling the credit crunch,” he added.

Harvey Nichol’s department store is in London’s Knightsbridge and the new ones will open in Nottingham and Kuwait.

Wan also informed that the store in Kuwait would open by 2011 while in Nottingham they plan to finish the work by 2012 or 2013.

“We have a strategy of growth that is sustainable across economic cycles. We have been planning for these stores for the past two years and they will not open for another two years by which time this so-called global recession is expected to be in recovery,” Wan said.
