Hardcore Maoist surrenders in Jharkhand
August 14th, 2010 - 8:07 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, Aug 14 (IANS) A hardcore Maoist rebel surrendered to senior police officials in Jharkhand Saturday.
Sanjay Parmanik of the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) surrendered to Inspector General of Police (Ranchi zone) Rezi Dundung.
Parmanik, who faces more than 11 criminal cases, is a close associate of CPI-Maoist leader, Kundan Pahan, who is known as the “Veerappan of Jharkhand”.
“We will extend facilities to Sanjay as per the provisions of the rehabilitation policy of the state government. We will welcome more Maoist rebels surrendering,” Dundung told reporters, adding that the operations against the Maoists will continue.
In the last one month, six hardcore Maoist rebels have surrendered in Jharkhand.
