Harassed engineer commits suicide
March 21st, 2011 - 3:06 pm ICT by IANSFaizabad, March 21 (IANS) A government engineer here in Uttar Pradesh Monday committed suicide allegedly after being harassed by his seniors, police said.
Anoop Bajpai, 50, deployed with the Ayodhya-Faizabad Development Authority (AFDA), consumed poison at his residence in Civil Lines.
Bajpai’s family and colleagues alleged that he was depressed for days as some senior officials were harassing him.
“His seniors even threatened to have him suspended or terminated if he failed to carry out developmental projects as per their instructions,” an AFDA official said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Awadesh Singh told IANS that no suicide note had been found.
“We have initiated an enquiry following the allegations made by the victim’s wife and colleagues. Strict action will be taken if the charges are proved,” he added.
