Gurudas Dasgupta slams CPI-M for debacle
May 18th, 2011 - 9:15 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, May 18 (IANS) Blaming “arrogance of power” by some Left leaders for the West Bengal election rout, Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Gurudas Dasgupta Wednesday asked that CPI-M to take the responsibility.
“Pride, arrogance of power among a section of leaders and workers, especially among CPI-M (Communist Party of India-Marxist) leaders, has not gone down well with the masses. We have not taken any lessons from the fall of the Soviet Union. That is why we had to face the debacle in West Bengal,” said Dasgupta.
“Being the biggest partner of the Left Front, the CPI-M also has to take the bigger proportion of responsibility. They cannot shy away from that responsibility,” he said.
“We made some flaws and mistakes. We should rectify those mistakes and give up this arrogant attitude. I think there should be an open debate on this debacle,” said Dasgupta.
Earlier, two other Left Front partners - the West Bengal Socialist Party and Revolutionary Socialist Party - also blamed “arrogance of power” among senior CPI-M leaders for the Left Front’s defeat.
