Gurgaon government hospital gets ICU
May 22nd, 2011 - 9:12 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh/Gurgaon, May 22 (IANS) The general hospital in Gurgaon, adjoining the national capital, has been equipped with an intensive care unit (ICU), making it the first government hospital in Haryana to get the facility, an official said in Chandigarh Sunday.
A spokesman of health department said that with the setting up of the ICU, a long pending demand of the people of the cyber city has been fulfilled.
He said that the ICU has started functioning on the first floor of the hospital and it has facilities of artificial respirator, ventilator and a cardiac monitor.
“Initially, six beds have been placed in the ICU. Three patients are already undergoing treatment at the unit. Out of these, one patient was bitten by a snake and he remained unconscious for five days. His life was saved in the unit,” the spokesman said.
Four doctors, four nurses and three specialists have been deputed at the ICU.
He said that a facility of natal intensive care unit for newborns has also been started in the Gurgaon hospital.
