Gurgaon cracks down on illegal hoardings, posters
April 9th, 2010 - 12:00 am ICT by IANSChandigarh/Gurgaon, April 8 (IANS) The district administration of Gurgaon Thursday imposed a ban on installation of hoardings and posters at all government and private properties, officials said.
These orders were issued by Gurgaon District Magistrate Rajender Kataria Thursday and he has also issued orders under Section 144 of Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, prohibiting gathering of five or more people at a spot to ensure compliance of these orders.
“The district magistrate has ordered that no hoarding or poster shall be installed by any person or firm without getting necessary permission. He has also directed the concerned officials to remove unauthorised hoardings or posters along with their iron frames and to recover the cost from the individuals who had installed them,” said the government spokesperson.
“There were reports that many persons and firms have installed hoardings and posters on the government land belonging to MC (municipal corporation), Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) and other departments as well as on private land,” he added.
The spokesman said that violation of these orders is punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
Earlier the district administration, Gurgaon MC and HUDA had launched a joint operation in February this year to make the city free from the menace of illegal hoardings.
