Anand (Gujarat), April 9 (IANS) “Now I am free from the torture,” Geetaben said when the police entered her home near here to arrest her for killing her father who used to sexually harassing her. The police reached her home at Sekhdi village, 27 km from here and about 80 km from Ahmedabad, late Tuesday night for fatally injuring her father Kanubhai Solanki April 6.

Her father, who was under treatment at the Nadiad civil hospital for head injuries Geetaben inflicted with a cane, died early Tuesday.

Geetaben told the police that her father continuously harassed her and made sexual advances. Whenever she went to her parents’ home at Pandoli village to meet her mother, he would begin making advances and harass her, she said.

As her mother Beenaben was helpless, Geetaben stopped visiting her. However, Kanubhai soon started visiting Sekhdi village where Geetaben lived with her husband.

He would plead and threaten her, asking her to divorce her husband and “marry him” instead, according to Geetaben.

When he came to see her Sunday and began threats and advances, “I simply picked up a cane lying nearby and struck him on his head giving vent to my pent up fury,” an otherwise docile Geetaben told the police.
