Gujarat, TN in Buchi Babu cricket quarter-finals

Chennai, September 6 (IANS) Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, from Group D, qualified for the quarter-finals of the All-India Buchi Babu Memorial cricket tournament by winning their second consecutive matches here Saturday. The two will meet to decide the group winners.Tamil Nadu overcame Vidarbha by five wickets while Gujarat scored a 104-run win against Himachal Pradesh.

Also winning were Baroda, who beat Rajasthan by five wickets, Tamil Nadu Combined Districts who beat Madhya Pradesh by one wicket, Hyderabad, who beat Assam by 198 runs, and Karnataka who defeated Kerala by 13 runs.

Rajasthan 315 in 89.3 overs (Vinnet Saxena 110, Y.Venugopal Rao 73, Nikhil Doru 35, Swapnil Singh 4/94 and Utkarsh patel 3/82) lost to Baroda 316 for 5 in 79.4 overs (Satyajit Parab 45, Anupam Gupta 60, Azhar Bilakia 94, Pinal Shah 56, Ashok Menaria 2 /44).

Andhra 353 for 7 in 90 overs (V.Manoj Sai 95, Y.Gyaneswar Rao 72, B.Sumanth 44, A.G.Pradip 27, D.Prabhu Kiran not out 82, Saurya Mahesh Sandanya 2/57, Jayesh Ashish Odedra 2/71) drew with Saurashtra 32 for 1 in 15 overs (Chirag Raju 23).

Vidarbha 201 in 77.5 overs (Alind Naidu 47, Amol Ubarande 26, R.Aswin 5/46) lost to Tamil Nadu 202 for 5 in 62.5 overs (Aravind 33, M.Vijay 46, R.Prasanna 45, R.Aswin not out 33, Viraj Kadbe 2/52).

Madhya Pradesh 136 in 50 overs (Hirishikesh Kanitkar not out 44, N.K.Sivakumar 5/37, C.Suresh 3/36) lost to Combined Districts 137 for 9 in 50.5 overs (K.Noorul Riaz 43, Amit Sharma 4/31, Gavrav Shir Sagar 4/51).

Gujarat 251 for 9 in 90 overs (Digant Popat 67, Sunny Patel 54, Timil Patel 36, Vishal Bhatia 4/83, Rajinder Thakur 2/43) beat Himachal Pradesh 147 in 60.3 overs (Shafiq Khan 43, Timil Patel 4/47, Viswajit Solanki 3/12).
