Gujarat High Court a corrupt judges’ dump, allege advocates
December 4th, 2010 - 4:30 pm ICT by IANSGandhinagar, Dec 4 (IANS) The Gujarat High Court Advocates Association (GHAA) has given a bandh call for Tuesday to protest what it called ill-treatment of the high court by the Supreme Court, and claimed the state high court has become a “dumping ground” for corrupt judges.
“We welcome every judge to our high court with open arms. This is treated and considered as our weakness and the Gujarat High Court has become a dumping ground,” GHAA president Yatin Oza said Saturday.
He said that all lawyers across the state would abstain from work Dec 7 and the bar will write to the Chief Justice of India and other dignitaries not to transfer corrupt judges from other high courts here.
Oza claimed that the Supreme Court and the central government were treating the people of the state as “aliens”.
He also claimed that the high court was functioning with just half the required number of judges.
