Gandhinagar, April 7 (IANS) The Gujarat High Court Thursday admitted a petition for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the murder of right to information (RTI) activist Amit Jethwa in Ahmedabad last year.
The bench of Justice A.L. Dave and Justice R.M. Chhaya admitted the petition filed by Jethwa’s father Bhikhubhai Jethwa.
The court, while admitting the plea, directed that Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s name be deleted from the list of respondents.
Jethwa was shot dead near the high court July 20, last year. His father blamed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Junagadh constituency Dinu Solanki and his men for the killing.
Jethwa was killed after he filed a public interest litigation in connection with alleged illegal mining near Sasan Gir lion sanctuary.
