Guerrillas shoot at National Conference leader
November 25th, 2011 - 6:09 pm ICT by IANSSrinagar, Nov 25 (IANS) Separatist guerrillas Friday fired at and injured a block president of the ruling National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir, police said here.
The incident took place in south Kashmir’s Tral town.
“Militants fired at Abdul Salam Bhat, a sarpanch and block president of the National Conference in Tral market Friday afternoon. The injured was shifted to hospital for treatment where doctors have described his condition as out of danger,” a senior police officer told IANS here.
No separatist guerrilla group has owned responsibility for the attack. Police said the area around the site is being searched. No arrests have been made so far.
