Guerrillas kill cop in Kashmir
May 17th, 2011 - 1:21 pm ICT by IANSSrinagar, May 17 (IANS) Separatist guerrillas gunned down a police constable in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district Tuesday morning, police said.
Militants fired at constable Muhammad Shafi Dar from close range in Tujar Chowk, some 60 km from here, a senior police officer told IANS.
“The constable succumbed to the bullet injuries before he could be taken to hospital,” the officer added.
Dar was a resident of Ladishat village in Kupwara.
Reports reaching here said senior police officers have reached the spot, but no arrests have been made so far.
No guerrilla group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
