Grenade attack at Manipur ex-chief minister’s house
January 6th, 2010 - 7:17 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Imphal, Jan 6 (IANS) A police commando was injured Wednesday in a grenade attack at the residence of former Manipur chief minister Radhabinod Koijam.
A police spokesperson said unidentified motorcycle-borne militants lobbed a grenade at Koijam’s official residence in the capital Imphal.
“A police commando who was outside the house was injured in the attack,” the official said.
Koijam, now a legislator and president of the Manipur unit of the Nationalist Congress Party, was inside the house when the grenade attack took place.
All entry and exit routes have since been sealed and a massive hunt has been launched for the attacking militants.
There are more than 20 militant groups active in Manipur with demands ranging from secession to greater autonomy.
