Government staffer kills three kin
July 25th, 2011 - 2:02 pm ICT by IANSMuzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh), July 25 (IANS) A 32-year-old government employee has been arrested for shooting dead three of his family members, including two minors, after an argument, police said Monday.
Daanpal Rathi, who is attached with the sub-divisional magistrate’s (SDM) office, late Sunday shot dead his widowed sister-in-law Babita, 33, and her two sons Vipul, 14, and Vikrant, 9, with his licensed revolver in Mansoorpur area.
“We are yet to ascertain the exact motive behind the crime. Preliminary investigations reveal that Daanpal had some heated arguments with his sister-in-law, and later shot her dead along with her two sons inside his house,” Deputy Superintendent of Police Omveer Singh told reporters in Muzaffarnagar, some 350 km from Lucknow.
“The killings could also be the fallout of a property dispute,” he added.
