Government itself termed it intelligence failure: Advani (Lead, changing dateline)November 27th, 2008 - 10:54 pm ICT by IANS
Mumbai, Nov 27 (IANS) The terrorists who struck at the country’s financial capital were preparing for the assault for many months, said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani here Thursday, adding that the government had on its own described it as an “intelligence failure”.Advani, who reached here Thursday evening accompanied by BJP leader Jaswant Singh, said: “The government itself is terming it intelligence failure, so I should not say anything.”
“There are so many terrorists involved in the attack, it seems that the preparation was going for months. This is the most horrifying attack in the history of India since Independence,” said Advani, the party’s prime ministerial candidate for the general elections.
“At this time the whole country should come together. Both the administration and public need to come together with patriotism without disturbing communal harmony to combat terrorism,” he added.
He said though he was scheduled to come here with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh but when he realised that the prime minister is not coming Thursday, he decided to come on his own.
Asked what would be the effect of the attack on Mumbai, Advani said: “The effect will not be across India only, but the world over. Foreign tourists are also affected in the attack.”
