Government doctor killed in Uttar Pradesh
March 9th, 2011 - 2:15 pm ICT by IANSMeerut (Uttar Pradesh), March 9 (IANS) A government doctor was shot dead at his residence here by unidentified car-borne assailants, police said Wednesday.
Harpal Singh, 50, posted in the Meerut District Hospital, was killed late Tuesday.
“According to eyewitnesses, the car-borne assailants fired several rounds at Singh while he was walking in the garden after dinner,” police inspector Prabhakar Kaintura told reporters in Meerut, some 500 km from Lucknow.
“Singh had received multiple bullet injuries on his neck and back. He died while being treated at a hospital,” he added.
The motive is yet to be established.
