New Delhi, May 12 (IANS) A chemicals storage facility and an apparel showroom were gutted here Thursday in separate fire incidents, officials said. No casualties were reported in either cases.

In the first case, a fire broke out in a chemical warehouse situated on Bawana Road in Shahbad Dairy area of north Delhi around 3.40 p.m. At least 30 fire tenders doused the blaze after a five-hour operation.

“The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained,” a fire brigade officer said.

“The facility is spread over 1,000 square yards and serves as a storage-cum-decanting area,” director of Delhi Fire Service (DFS) A.K. Sharma said.

The second fire was reported from an apparel showroom in south Delhi’s bustling South Extension Part-I commercial area around 12.10 p.m.

According to DFS officials, the incident occurred when a motorcycle parked adjacent to the showroom caught fire.

“Other two-wheelers parked alongside the blazing vehicle also caught fire, which then spread to an electricity generator connected to the showroom. The fire quickly spread and engulfed the ground, first and second floors of the showroom,” an official said.

Four fire tenders were rushed to douse the blaze.

“How the bike caught fire is still not known,” the official added.
