‘Godman’ in sex racket in police custody
March 4th, 2010 - 9:23 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, March 4 (IANS) A court Thursday sent a self-styled godman arrested for running a sex racket here to police custody for five days.
Metropolitan Magistrate Ravinder Singh sent accused Shiv Murat Dwivedi, 39, alias Ichchadhari Sant Swami Bhimanandji Maharaj Chitrakootwale, to police custody till March 9.
Police had sought a 10-day remand of the godman and his accomplice Praveen.
“The case has vast ramifications. To unearth them, the custodial interrogation of the accused is required. We also want to ascertain if some call girls have been detained by the accused,” police told the court.
Dwivedi was arrested Feb 26 along with two men and six women in the age group of 19 to 30 years from Saket in south Delhi.
