Goa girl attempts suicide after molester gets bail
July 24th, 2012 - 5:21 pm ICT by IANSPanaji, July 24 (IANS) A 17-year-old victim of molestation attempted to commit suicide Tuesday by setting herself afire, police said.
The girl has been admitted to the Goa Medical College (GMC) with severe burn injuries, police said, adding that she was suffering from mental trauma ever since she was molested in January by a 45-year-old art teacher Kanhaiya Naik.
The attempted suicide came less than a fortnight after Naik was released on bail by the Panaji Bench of the Bombay High Court this month.
In January this year, the girl had complained to the police that Kanhaiya had lured her to his house on the pretext of a career guidance session and molested her.
