Panaji, Jan 9 (IANS) The Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) are likely to announce their alliance for the upcoming Goa assembly polls by the end of this week, a top Congress leader said Monday.
Goa Congress president Subhash Shirodkar told reporters here that senior central leaders from both parties would be announcing the pre-poll alliance and modalities in New Delhi later this week.
“We are fine tuning the seat sharing formula. Once it is finalised this week, we will announce it in Delhi,” Shirodkar said.
The Congress runs an alliance government in Goa in partnership with the NCP and the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP). The latter, which has two members in the 40-member house, is, however, in talks with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for a poll tie-up ahead of the March 3 elections.
